Notice and Comment with Pizza

L402, Washington, DC

Join ACS and the Immigration Law Association in making our voices heard on child detention and new limits on immigrants' ability to obtain residency. We will provide a brief overview of the Notice and Comment process. Profs. Alberto Benitez and Paulina Vera will summarize the Trump administration's proposals. Then, we'll draft comments together (bring a laptop!).

We'll be making public comments on two proposed Department of Homeland Security rules. The first deals with the Flores Settlement, a 20-year-old settlement which created limits on child detention. The Trump administration wants to circumvent these limits. The second is a proposal to negatively consider whether an immigrant uses any public benefits in their application for residency. No expertise in administrative or immigration law is required to comment on these rules.
