In Collaboration with Detroit Mercy Law’s, Immigration Law Association, the American Constitution Society, and the Federalist Society we are happy to present to you a series called "Controversial Conversations." The purpose of this series is to educate and engage participants in discussions about contentious topics. The first discussion will be on Thursday, August 27th and will focus on the impact of COVID-19 in America's incarceration system of jails, prisons, and immigration detention centers.

The program will follow as listed here below:

  • 5:30 PM - 6:25 PM: Participants will hear from three notable attorneys working in the field, Atenas Burrola of the Immigration Justice Campaign, Shon Hopwood of Georgetown Law, and Phil Mayor of the ACLU of Michigan.

  • 6:30 PM - 7:00 PM: Participants will be provided discussion questions to engage in personal conversations with others in small groups. All viewpoints and experiences will be respected.
