Legalizing Imperialism: The Constitution and the Struggle for Puerto Rican Equal Citizenship
UCLA Law's ACS and La Raza chapters will host Prof. Sam Erman (USC Law), author of ALMOST CITIZENS: PUERTO RICO, THE U.S. CONSTITUTION, AND EMPIRE, and Prof. Cesar Ayala (UCLA Dept. of Sociology) for a discussion on how the U.S. Constitution has been interpreted to accommodate the racist and imperialist governance of Puerto Rico, and how remarkable Puerto Ricans fought back in search of equal rights.
