Leaders from Law Workshop

Georgetown Law Center, Washington, DC

Join the Washington, DC Lawyer Chapter of the American Constitution Society for a Leaders from Law Workshop geared toward progressive law students and recent law graduates (2014-present) who want to operationalize their interest in running for elected office and are current ACS members. If you are not yet an ACS member, you can join here.

It is more important than ever to plan for and begin taking steps toward a more progressive future. If you are interested in running now or within the first ten years of graduating law school, we encourage you to apply.

The workshop will explore four main themes:

• Organization: How to organize yourself to run for office, especially offices where your legal skills and talents can make a difference.

• Compliance: How to make sure you are you are in compliance with relevant election law.

• Network Building: How to build connections and background useful to a candidacy.

• Balance: How to balance building a legal career while aiming to run for office.

The workshop will run the evening of Friday, September 28 and all day Saturday, September 29 at Georgetown Law Center. The session will be interactive, and may involve light reading in advance. Be prepared to bring a tablet or laptop capable of connecting to the internet, and to participate in planned exercises and research.
