Reform or pack—how should progressives approach the Supreme Court?

Donald Trump’s stocking of the federal judiciary has threatened the possibility of a generation of a conservative judges and courts striking down progressive legislation. As progressives eye electoral success in 2020, some are embracing what they call “structural court reforms.” But how should progressives proceed—should they try to adjust the personnel of the Supreme Court or to “disempower the institution itself?” Please join the Yale Law ACS Student Chapter as we welcome Professor Samuel Moyn for a discussion of his Atlantic article on how to reform and democratize the Supreme Court.
