Constitutionality of Medicare Drug Price Negotiations

Duke University School of Law, Durham, North Carolina

General Description: Currently, the Biden administration's Medicare price negotiations proposal is being challenged. Because the drug negotiations are being challenged in multiple courts, the Supreme Court is likely to hear the case. Professor Carmel Shachar, Assistant Clinical Professor of Law at Harvard Law School and Faculty Director of Harvard Law's Center for Health Law and Policy Innovation will speak at Duke Law about these challenges to Medicare drug negotiations. She will explain the legal basis behind the challenges, discuss the likelihood judges will be sympathetic to pharmaceutical companies' arguments, and answer any questions from the Duke Law Community.

Expected Attendance: 55-65 people (students, faculty, and administrators)

RSVP Status: Professor Shachar has confirmed she is available to speak on October 4 from 12:30 to 1:20.

Co-Sponsors: Duke Law Health Law Society (confirmed) and Duke Bar Association (potentially)
