Change in Pressures on the Judiciary Under Justice Roberts
Panel discussion regarding how the pressures on the judiciary have changed over the course of Chief Justice Robert’s tenure. More specifically, we are hoping to discuss the separation of powers in regard to the filling of Justice Scalia’s seat, the Executive Branch’s assertions against the independence of the judiciary (and the Chief Justice’s response), and finally, how the judiciary may handle the expansion and retraction of rights under Title VII.
The confirmed panelists will be:
Judge Sheryl Lipman of the USDC for the Western District of Tennessee
Attorney Robert L. Hutton of Glankler Brown
Professor Regina Lambert of the University of Memphis.
Lunch will be provided.
