Amending the U.S. Constitution: The Risks of an Article V Convention of the States

Professor David Super (Georgetown Law) and Professor McKay Cunningham (Concordia Law) will present a legal program analyzing a current Constitutional Law topic that is particularly germane in Idaho. This program will cover the following topics:

• The history of amending the U.S. Constitution

• The legal benefits and detriments inherent in an Article V Convention

• Potential changes to Constitutional norms posed by an Article V Convention

• Various proposed amendments, including a Balanced Budget Amendment and the amendments proposed by the Convention of the States

• Whether Idaho should petition for an Article V Convention

Lunch will be provided. Sponsored by Concordia School of Law, in partnership with the Constitution Coalition of Idaho and the Concordia School of Law chapter of the American Constitution Society.
