Ways to Stay Engaged While You Stay Home - May 20th Edition
We know most of you are staying at home now, doing your part to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Many of you are caring for family and friends. Others are looking for ways to keep busy as you practice social distancing.
During these unprecedented times, ACS continues to provide a virtual forum for our network to engage and work toward a Constitution that is truly “of the people, by the people, and for the people.” Here are some ways to help you stay connected with ACS while in-person events are canceled. ACS At-Large Chapter Events: Join the ACS At-Large Chapter and ACS Colorado Lawyer Chapter June 24 at 1:30 PM ET for a Pride Month discussion on the possibilities of progressive federalism for securing legal rights and protections for the LGBTQ community. Register here.
Volunteer with Law for Black Lives: Law for Black Lives is working with the Mississippi Prison Reform Coalition to get the most vulnerable people released from prison through habeas and other legal mechanisms. They are looking for lawyers who are licensed to practice in any state, have some experience with post-conviction relief or prison conditions and can commit to taking an individual client for at least the next few months. Volunteer with the Immigration Justice Campaign: Volunteers are needed to help with remote bond cases, requests for re-interview, and remote appeals. Email at us LCEmails@acslaw.org if you sign up!
