Ways to Stay Engaged While You Stay Home – April 30th Edition

We know most of you are staying at home now, doing your part to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Many of you are caring for family and friends. Others are looking for ways to keep busy as you practice social distancing.

During these unprecedented times, ACS continues to provide a virtual forum for our network to engage and work toward a Constitution that is truly “of the people, by the people, and for the people.” Here are some ways to help you stay connected with ACS while in-person events are canceled. Do you have ideas we should include in future editions? Let us know by emailing info@acslaw.org

Pro Bono Lawyers and Law Students Needed to Help Workers Affected by COVID-19: Both lawyer and law student volunteers are needed to help service workers affected by the pandemic through a coalition with One Fair Wage and the National Legal Advocacy Network. Volunteer needs include answering general labor and employment law questions received through a coalition hotline and helping with virtual clinics. For more information and to get involved, email ACS Director of Network Advancement, Ashley Erickson, at aerickson@acslaw.org.

Coalition Partner Calls: Join the Civics Center and ACS’s Director of Policy and Program, Lindsay Langholz, for a discussion on the mystery of low turnout of young voters. Listen in on May 5 at 2 pm ET. This program qualifies for one credit of California MCLE credit.

Listen to Supreme Court Oral Arguments: The Supreme Court will be making a live audio feed of May oral arguments available to the public, through CSPAN. Read more about the announcement here.

Join SCOTUSblog for Virtual Seminars: SCOTUSblog is launching a series of virtual seminars targeted to different audiences and age groups for many of the May oral arguments. For each case, SCOTUSblog will host two 30-minute video sessions, one before and one after the argument. Learn more here.
