ACS Member News: Week of January 27, 2020


Board of Advisors member Geoffrey Stone was mentioned in National Review for being behind the Chicago Statement, which defends free speech at the University of Chicago.

Board of Academic Advisors member Leah Litman authored an article in The Washington Post about the Supreme Court declining to speed up its consideration of a challenge to the Affordable Care Act, which could affect voter thinking in the 2020 election.

ACS Co-Faculty Advisor at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law Kate Shaw authored an op-ed in The New York Times about how the rhetorical choices of Trump’s lawyers have grave implications.

ACS Faculty Advisor at the University of Kentucky College of Law Joshua Douglas authored an op-ed in the Louisville Courier-Journal, stating that the Kentucky photo ID bill needs more work and should not take effect until after the 2020 election.

ACS Missouri Lawyer Chapter Board of Directors member Frank Bowman authored an article in The Atlantic about how Trump’s defense against subpoenas makes no legal sense.

ACS Next Generation Leader Adam Morfeld was mentioned in the Lincoln Journal Star for proposing a study into creating a high-speed  commuter rail between Omaha and Lincoln in Nebraska.

ACS member Jarrett Adams was mentioned on Wisconsin Public Radio for joining the Wisconsin State Bar. Adams is an exonerated attorney; he was wrongfully convicted of a crime for which he served 10 years in prison.
