Senate GOP Schedules Rushed Hearings to Jam Through Kavanaugh’s Nomination for the Supreme Court

Judge Brett Kavanaugh

August 10, 2018

Washington, D.C. — News emerged today that the Senate GOP has scheduled hearings on Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court as soon as September 4, long before anyone will have had a chance to review documents from Kavanaugh’s time in the Bush administration. Below is a statement from Caroline Fredrickson, President of the American Constitution Society.

“Trump and Senate Republicans are so eager to cram their Supreme Court nominee through the process, they have cut off access to key documents and now they are scheduling this rushed hearing before anyone has had a chance to review Kavanaugh’s record. They clearly do not want the American people to know how far out of the mainstream Kavanaugh would be on the Court. It’s just another example of the corruption, lack of transparency, and contempt for the proper operation of government we have seen time and time again from the Trump administration.”
