Chicago-Kent - Field Notes

Join the ACS Chicago-Kent Student Chapter and six Kent student orgs as we band together to give student practical stories from the front lines of litigating for our Constitutional freedoms. We will be joined by three Chicago attorneys speaking about their views and experiences from active cases that affect our city. 

Speakers are:

• Pablo Moreno from MALDEF, sharing about litigation against ICE; MALDEF is involved in a broad range of ICE litigation concerning Operation Midway Blitz last fall as well as recent courthouse arrest issues.

• Katja, a Legal Fellow at First Defense Legal Aid: talking about ICE and immigration activity in Chicago, the Prairieland, Michigan 8, and Minnesota 15 cases, and the Logan shakedowns at the Logan Correctional Facility.

• Shiva Kooragayala from Democracy Forward: speaking on the broader litigation of a national group, as well as providing an over-arching perspective on why action, even under a tough news cycle, is worthwhile and effective.
