Our Votes, Our Voices, Our Freedom: National Voters Registration Day Tabeling Event
October 9’s culminating program, Our Votes. Our Voices. Our Freedom.: The Continuing Fight for Voting Rights, will bring together students, community members, and partner organizations for an evening of education, conversation, and action focused on the history and continuing fight for voting rights.
The program will include a constitutional and legal foundation presented in partnership with ACS, a historical overview presented in partnership with BLSA, present-day context from Reverend Anderson, and lived experience and discussion of disenfranchisement and voting-rights restoration from Mr. Yancy and Voices of the Experienced (VOTE).
The program will also include a nonpartisan overview of the upcoming Louisiana ballot and opportunities for attendees to register to vote, check their registration status, or update their voter information. RSVP is requested.
The event is co-sponsored by the Black Law Students Association (BLSA), American Constitution Society (ACS), Student Bar Association (SBA), Louis A. Berry Institute Certificate Students for Civil Rights, Human Rights & Social Justice, and Voices of the Experienced (VOTE), a 501(c)(3) organization.
