Indigent Defense Panel
Suffolk’s chapter of the American Constitution Society, in partnership with our Criminal Law Association, is hosting a panel to address the renewed importance of the right to counsel provided by the Sixth Amendment and affirmed by Gideon v. Wainwright in 1963. A handful of panelists will discuss MA’s current indigent defense framework as well as the federal system, with an emphasis on what’s working and what needs to change. We have confirmed that Professor Abbe Smith of Georgetown Law will speak and are in talks with regional judges and attorneys as well. We have been given food and beverage funds by our school.
