Before the Bench: A Conversation on Judicial Confirmation in Politics

Yale Law School

ACS is cosponsoring an event hosted by Yale Law Democrats on Tuesday, October 25, from 12:10-1:15 PM. Roscoe Jones, Jr. of Gibson Dunn, where he is a partner and co-chair of the Public Policy Practice Group, will be joining us for an event titled “Before the Bench: A Conversation on Judicial Confirmations and Lawyering in Politics.” Roscoe spent 17 years on Capitol Hill and in the Executive Branch as chief of staff to a member of Congress, legislative director to Senator Dianne Feinstein, senior counsel to Senator Cory Booker, and senior counsel to Senator Patrick Leahy on the Senate Judiciary Committee. He has advised three U.S. Senators on five of the last six Supreme Court confirmations, including Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, Neil Gorsuch, and Brett Kavanaugh, as well as the nomination of Judge Merrick Garland. The event will be held in Baker 419 and lunch will be served. All are welcome, and we especially encourage anyone interested in government lawyering, lawyering in politics, the judicial confirmation process, and public policy work in private practice to join.
