ACS Lawyer Chapters: Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation Salon

Baldwin Hills

Join the ACS Los Angeles, San Diego, and Orange County Lawyer Chapters and the ACS UCLA, Southwestern, Loyola, Pepperdine, and USC Student Chapters on Friday, January 20, 2023 for an interactive Salon to celebrate truth, racial healing, and transformation. This dynamic and engaging evening will confront challenging topics and center the voices and experiences of Black and Indigenous people through spoken word, music, and meaningful discourse at a beautiful private residence in Balwin Hills.

The evening will culminate with a panel of experts to discuss the work of the California Reparations Task Force, its interim report on the ongoing and compounding harms experienced by African Americans as a result of slavery, the lingering effects of systemic discrimination and exclusion in American society today, and the power of racial healing and transformation.

Come in fellowship to create community with us, and leave emboldened to break down the systems and policies that disconnect us from our shared humanity.

Speakers:

Jody David Armour, Roy P. Crocker Professor of Law, USC Gould School of Law

Lisa Holder, Member, Reparations Task Force; President, Equal Justice Society

Dr. Marcus Hunter, Professor of African American Studies and Sociology, University of California, Los Angeles; Scott Waugh Endowed Chair in the Division of the Social Sciences
