The Harvard Affirmative Action Case: Defending Affirmative Action

Baker 116, New Haven, CT

This Friday, ACS is co-sponsoring an event with APALSA and Yale University's Asian American Cultural Center (AACC) titled, "The Harvard Affirmative Action Case: Defending Affirmative Action," an event on the Supreme Court case Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard.

The event will feature Cara McClellan (YLS '15), Skadden Fellow at the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, and Jeannie Park, co-founder of the Coalition for a Diverse Harvard, a group that supports diversity and inclusion in higher education. The Coalition for a Diverse Harvard filed an amicus brief in conjunction with 24 other Harvard organizations opposing Students for Fair Admissions.

The discussion around affirmative action is a fraught one in the Asian American and Pacific Islander community. While set at the law school, this event aims to be a space of self-reckoning and reflection for the broader AAPI community at Yale. We invite everyone - within and beyond the AAPI community - to join us on Friday.
