Hidden Emergency Powers in the Trump Era

Room 3037, Duke Law School, Durham, NC

In this event, Andrew Boyle, Liberty & National Security Counsel at the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU Law School and ACS Next Generation Leader, will discuss the ways President Trump's emergency powers could be used, their potential for abuse, and whether our current legal framework for national emergencies is the right one. Given the results of the 2018 midterm elections and the potential for legislative action, the event reimagines the possibilities for legal change. The event is free and open to the public. Sponsored by the American Constitution Society. For more information, please contact Andrew Lindsay at andrew.lindsay@duke.edu.
