Lilac Twig: Judicial Discretion and Race

Zoom

This Thursday, July 9th, at 12 PM MST, Professor Shaakirrah Sanders will be joining ACS to discuss her newest project “Lilac Twig: Judicial Discretion and Race.”

Lilac Twig researches Williams v. New York and the investigation, prosecution, and conviction of Samuel Tito Williams for Selma Graff’s high profile 1947 murder. It interrogates the Williams Court’s “color blindness” obscuring justice and furthering sentencing disparities of indigenous and African Americans.
