Public Defenders & Abolition Panel part 1 & 2

Public Defenders & Abolition Panel

Come join NLG and ACS on Monday, February 7 from 6-7pm for a virtual event on the role of public defenders in abolition work! This event will be the second of a two-part series (the first of which we held in the law school back on November 18 – check out the recording here if you missed it). This event will be moderated by Jamie Marsicano (1L) and Sawyer Davis (2L), and will include five fantastic public defenders and federal public defenders from different part of the country who will each share their experiences doing this work day in and day out. The event will include a lot of time for Q&A, so make sure to bring your questions. We hope to see you there! (And if you can’t make it to the event, no worries -- the event will be recorded for those who can't join, and we’ll send around the recording.)

Speakers:

Siya Hegde – Civil Public Defender and Policy Counsel, The Bronx Defenders

Janki Kaneria – Assistant Public Defender, Mecklenburg County
