Indiana University Maurer School of Law, Professor Dawn Johnsen

On June 13, 2013, The American Constitution Society for Law and Policy (ACS) in partnership with the Center for Reproductive Rights (the Center) presented the first ACS Reproductive Rights and Justice Award to the ACS chapter of Indiana University Maurer School of Law at Bloomington. ACS and the Center will present this award annually. During the ACS National Convention, ACS Indiana-Bloomington was honored for its outstanding work in the area of reproductive rights and justice in the 2012-2013 academic year. Most recently, the chapter hosted an event titled, Restrictions on Abortion Forty Years after Roe v. Wade: Listen Up, It’s About You featuring Louise Melling, Director of ACLU Reproductive Freedom Project.

We are thrilled to present the award to ACS Indiana-Bloomington Board members Jim Spangler and Jessica Jackson-McClain. Center President and CEO Nancy Northup offered her congratulations saying, “The Center is very pleased to award the first annual ACS Reproductive Rights and Justice Award to ACS Indiana-Bloomington for their focus on reproductive rights.  We are thrilled to see the next generation of activists, lawyers and policy makers engaged with these issues fundamental to women’s health.”

“ACS is honored to join the Center for Reproductive Rights in granting this award to the ACS Student Chapter at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law for its tireless and excellent work in advancing thoughtful discussion on the state of reproductive freedoms,” said ACS President Caroline Fredrickson.

ACS Board Member Dawn Johnsen is a faculty advisor for the Indiana University Maurer School of Law student chapter.
