Vice President of Communications
William Lutz brings over two decades of strategic nonprofit communications experience to his role as Vice President of Communications at ACS, having led communications departments for numerous organizations dedicated to progressive and social justice causes, including legal aid for low-income communities, women’s reproductive rights, the environment, and the uninsured.
Prior to joining ACS, Mr. Lutz served as Senior Director of Communications at Families USA, overseeing a 12-person team during the 2017 national fight over Obamacare repeal. He also served as Communications Director at Defenders of Wildlife, one of the nation’s premier wildlife conservation organizations, during numerous legislative battles over key environmental protections. Earlier in his career, Mr. Lutz served as Communications Director for NARAL Pro-choice America and for the Legal Services Corporation. He also has significant political experience, having run several independent expenditure and ballot initiative campaigns, and has worked for several private firms including MSHC Partners and GMMB. He also is the founder and principal of Lutz CS Communications.
Mr. Lutz is a native New Yorker and a graduate of Stuyvesant High School and the George Washington University. He resides in VA with his wife, two daughters, and five cats.
