Brian William Kaufman
Associate Director of Chapters
Brian William Kaufman joined ACS in September 2016 and currently serves as Associate Director of Chapters. In this capacity, Kaufman works with ACS Lawyer and Student chapters across the country, supporting their growth and development in furtherance of actualizing ACS’s mission of shaping law and policy to be instruments of social justice for all individuals and communities.
Prior to joining ACS, Kaufman worked for the National Center for Lesbian Rights as a policy law fellow, focusing on NCLR’s #BornPerfect Campaign, which protects LGBT youth from the dangerous and discredited practices of conversion therapy through legislation, litigation and public education.
Kaufman received his J.D. from Emory University, and his M.A. in theology focusing on Catholic theological ethics and social justice, and his B.A. in international studies and theology from Boston College. Kaufman is a past Co-President of the ACS Emory Law Student Law Chapter. He has also been published in The Oxford Handbook on Religion and Education.
Originally from the New York City area, Kaufman is passionate about spirituality, education, LGBTQ equality, and Baptiste yoga.
