Belinda Macauley joined ACS in 2014 and currently serves as Vice President of Development and Senior Counsel. In this capacity, she leads the fundraising team charged with ensuring that ACS has the necessary resources to further a progressive vision of the Constitution. Belinda is also responsible for assisting the President with organizational long-term strategy and positioning.
Before joining ACS, Belinda was Vice President at Kinsella Media, a consulting firm that provides expert witness services for both plaintiff and defense counsel primarily in class action settlements. Prior to joining Kinsella Media in 2008, Belinda practiced law for nearly 10 years, first as a criminal prosecutor in her home state of California, where she tried more than 20 cases to jury verdict. She later ran a small nonprofit that provided pro bono legal services to inner-city residents of Washington, DC., and worked as a senior policy attorney for five years at NARAL Pro-Choice America, including serving as Deputy Legal Director. Her experience also includes working for a Member of Congress and a U.S. Senator, and providing legal and policy analysis support to state and federal government relations teams.
Belinda graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science (concentration in American government), and received her Juris Doctorate from the George Washington Law School in 1998. She is a member of the District of Columbia bar and an inactive member of the California state bar. Belinda lives in Maryland with her husband, young daughter, and two energetic rescue dogs.
