Interested in working in governmnent, either on the Hill or in the White House? Thinking about ditching the practice of law to found your own nonprofit? Thinking about running for office, or want to hear more about the challenges (and opportunities) facing young women who want to run? Yale Law Women, in partnership with ACS, invites you to come hear from a woman who has done it all!

Susannah Shakow is the founder and President of Running Start, a nonprofit dedicated to educating the public about young women in politics and encouraging young women to run for office (runningstartonline.org). She is an attorney, formerly practicing legislative law as an associate with Verner, Liipfert, Bernhard, McPherson & Hand. She graduated from Davidson College in North Carolina in 1990, and from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1998. Previous work experience includes serving as a Legislative Assistant to Senator Wyche Fowler (D-GA), and working in both the policy and communications offices in the White House on President Clinton's Health Care Initiative. She is a native of Washington, DC, and has seven-year-old twin sons.
