"Guantanamo Bay and the War on Terror: How Far Can the Government Go?"

ACS at Mercer is proud to announce that Belinda Cooper, Senior Fellow at the World Policy Institute, will be giving a talk entitled "Guantanamo Bay and the War on Terror: How Far Can the Government Go?" Ms. Cooper will be speaking about government detention policy in the war on terror, particularly at Guantanamo Bay, using the case of a specific Turkish-German detainee as the starting point.

Belinda Cooper is a Senior Fellow at the World Policy Institute in New York, and an adjunct professor at NYU's Global Affairs M.S. Program. She teaches and lectures on human rights and international law, and is the editor of "War Crimes: The Legacy of Nuremberg," which explores the
interconnections between the Nuremberg tribunal and today's
international criminal tribunals. Ms. Cooper has taught human rights,
international law, transitional justice and gender and law at Humboldt University in Berlin, the New School, Seton Hall Law School and Ohio Northern University Law School.

Cooper has written for a wide variety of publications, including
The New York Times, Newsweek, World Policy Journal, and the Christian Science Monitor.

Cooper received her J.D. from Yale Law School.
