On Monday, May 2, 2006 the Colorado Lawyer Chapter held a reception and panel on "Prohibition or Protection? Debating Legal Rights for Same-Sex Couples in Colorado" at the University of Denver College of Law. Professor Julie Nice of the University of Denver College of Law and Colorado State Senator Shawn Mitchell appeared on the panel, which was moderated by Fred Brown, who is a political analyst and the former Capitol Bureau Chief for The Denver Post. The panelists discussed the current issues surrounding same-sex marriage in Colorado in front of an audience of over 100 people, making this a successful first event for the chapter.
