On Thursday, August 27, 2009, The South Carolina Chapter of the American Constitution Society hosted its annual happy hour at The Whig in Columbia, South Carolina. The event had dozens of attendees; new students mingled with ACS members and faculty advisors, and learned about ACS and how it would benefit them throughout their three years at law school, as well as throughout their careers.

This year, the Convention will commence with a gala dinner on Thursday evening, June 17, featuring a special guest speaker. We will have many engaging panels and plenary panels all day Friday, June 18, and Saturday morning. The Convention will conclude with a Saturday luncheon followed by the ACS Student Chapter Retreat on June 19.

New Books on the Constitution
Keeping Faith with the Constitution is a new book published by ACS and authored by legal scholars Goodwin Liu, Pamela Karlan, and Christopher Schroeder. The authors present in accessible language a compelling and common-sense approach to constitutional interpretation - one that is faithful to the Constitution's words and principles and that explains why our founding document is the world's most enduring written constitution, able to address the changing needs and conditions of our society, just as the Framers intended. Keeping Faith also explores why concepts such as “originalism” and “strict construction” are inconsistent with the intent of the framers.
