2009 ACS National Convention Podcast/Interview: Woodrow Wilson School Scholar Deborah Pearlstein on Detainees

  • Following her participation on the "Justice for Detainees Revisited" panel at the 2009 ACS National Convention, Deborah Pearlstein talked with ACSblog about changes in executive policy on the treatment of detainees. Pearlstein, an associate research scholar at Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School, said that, "One, and perhaps most important, is the categorical repudiation of torture and cruel and inhumane, degrading treatment - not just by the military, but by the CIA and our intelligence services as well to bring in line military and intelligence interrogation standards. I think that is a critical step, and one that is probably already too often overlooked."
