Congratulations to Stephen D. Susman, member of the ACS Board of Advisors and former member of the ACS Board of Directors, for being honored with Texas Lawyer’s 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award. Susman is a partner at Susman Godfrey and executive director of the Civil Jury Project at NYU School of Law, which will host its inaugural conference, “The State and Future of Civil Jury Trials,” on Sept. 11. The National Law Journal reported that the firms of Paul M. Smith, a member of the ACS Board of Directors; J. Gerald Hebert, executive director of the Campaign Legal Center, which partners with ACS for the Voting Right Institute; and Chad Dunn, an instructor at the Voting Rights Institute training during the 2015 ACS Student Convention, will share in the more than $1 million in fees Texas is required to pay after losing a challenge to its redistricting plans.
