Liz Seaton, Deputy Director of Programs
Liz joined the staff of ACS after spending six years at the Human Rights Campaign, most recently as its Legal Director and General Counsel. In that capacity she ensured compliance with applicable laws. She headed up the team of federal legislative lawyers working on a broad range of issues, from safe schools to hate crimes to employment to immigration to domestic partnerships and marriage equality. Liz originally joined HRC as its Deputy Field Director, building its program of partnering with state groups to achieve specific policy objectives. Prior to that, Liz worked at the law firm of Silber & Perlman for a year, concentrating on family law, employment discrimination, and municipal law. Immediately after law school, she worked for five years at the Whitman-Walker Clinic, the last two as Associate Legal Services Director assisting in leading a comprehensive pro bono HIV legal services program. Liz currently serves on the Special Committee on Anti-Discrimination Matters with the Maryland State Bar Association. Liz has taught as an adjunct professor of law at the Washington College of Law, American University. She earned her law degree from WCL after receiving her Master of Arts degree in Public Policy and Women’s Studies at the George Washington University.
