This program focused on half of the men still detained at Guantánamo.  For at least three years, these eighty-six men have been cleared for release by unanimous agreement of the nation’s top intelligence, national security, law enforcement and military officials, yet taxpayers continue to spend $70 million per year to keep the detainees imprisoned.  The panelists also addressed the detainees’ efforts to obtain habeas corpus relief in the federal courts and Congressional restrictions on the release of these men.  A question and answer session followed the discussion.

1.5 hours of MCLE credit were provided.
